A historic building, hands-on science and room to ask a better question. Make time for a different kind of museum day in Haifa.
This guide helps you choose a manageable route, leave space for experiments and arrive with the practical details in hand.

Allow around 3 hours
A useful starting point for a visit; choose a shorter route with younger children.

MadaTech is Israel’s National Museum of Science, Technology and Space. Its emphasis is on participation: visitors can explore scientific ideas through interactive displays rather than simply reading labels. The museum’s programme spans more than twenty exhibitions, an outdoor Science Park and a dedicated preschool area.
For a first visit, resist the urge to cover every room. Pick a few subjects that interest your group, then spend enough time with each experiment to see what changes. Adults can make this more rewarding by asking a simple question before anyone touches the controls: what do you think will happen?
Light, sound & perception
The current exhibition list includes Optical Illusions, the Music Room and the Dark Room. Choose a theme and notice how an experiment changes what you see or hear.
Energy, flight & space
Green Energy, Gaining Altitude and the Space Wing offer different ways into the science of movement and exploration. Check which activities are running on your chosen date.
The Science Park
Make the outdoor area part of the visit, rather than an afterthought. It gives your route a change of pace and another way to explore scientific ideas through play.
The museum occupies the historic home of the Technion. Its cornerstone was laid in 1912; the building became the science museum’s permanent home in 1984. That connection between learning and place is a good reason to pause outside before heading in.
Look at the central arch, the rhythm of the windows and the stonework. A visit here can be both a science outing and an encounter with one of Haifa’s distinctive educational buildings.
MadaTech belongs to a wider city story. The illustration alongside this section evokes Haifa’s urban setting; it is not a picture of the museum building.

This is our flexible plan, not a museum timetable. Swap the order to suit your group, the weather and any scheduled demonstrations.
Choose depth over a checklist. An exhibit that sparks conversation is worth more time than another room visited in a hurry.
First
15 min
Orient yourself, check the day’s activities with staff and choose two or three priorities.
Next
60–75 min
Explore the indoor exhibitions that interest you most. Give everyone a turn and compare the results of repeated experiments.
Then
30–45 min
Take a break and include the Science Park if conditions and access allow.
Finish
30–45 min
Return to a favourite experiment or choose one final area. Leave enough time to gather belongings and depart without rushing.
Science becomes easier to discuss when you start with something concrete. A model can make scale visible; a mechanism can turn an abstract idea about force into a question you can follow. These two illustrative photographs introduce that way of thinking.
Opening times, prices and activities can change. Use the museum’s live information for the date you intend to visit, then build your day around the time actually available.
Tickets & timing
Reserve for the correct date and time. The museum states that advance same-day online sales end two hours before closing, with entry permitted until one hour before closing. A late arrival leaves less time to explore.
Entrance & parking
Check the official directions for the visitor entrance. The museum lists a parking entrance at 12 Balfour Street, subject to availability; the parking entrance is not the visitor entrance.
With children
Bring a spare outfit and towel if children may use the park’s water activities. Ask staff which areas best suit your children’s ages and interests.
Food & access
The museum’s FAQ permits eating in the Science Park but not inside enclosed museum areas. For step-free routes, sensory needs or individual assistance, contact the museum before travelling.
