Is Wadi Mujib part of Jordan Pass & Does the Jordan Pass include the Dead Sea?

Wadi Mujib is not included in the Jordan Pass. The reserve is managed by the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN) and encompasses all designated zones established by a Prime Ministerial decree following cabinet approval (No. 4/62/13268) on November 9, 1985. The Ministry of Agriculture, through its Forestry Department, allocated the management of Wadi Mujib to the RSCN, as outlined in an official letter (available in both Arabic and English).

As for the Dead Sea, the Jordanian side features both open and restricted areas. Certain spots allow visitors to swim and take photos, while others require entrance fees, especially for private beaches. Additionally, some hotels offer day-use access to their beaches for a fee.

What are the benefits of purchasing a Jordan Pass for tourists traveling to Jordan?

The Jordan Pass is an initiative of the Jordan Ministry of Tourism to make it easier for tourists to travel around Jordan. It’s a unified ticket that combines a tourist visa fee and entry to 36 tourist sites across the country. If you spend longer than three nights in the country, it will also waive the fee for the Visa on Arrival , which is about US$56!

So, in a nutshell, if you purchase the Pass before you travel, you can visit any of the locations included in the Pass (36 of them), without having to pay anything else for entrance. You also save an additional US$56 if you stay more than three nights.

However, the pass is only available for citizens of countries eligible for a Visa on Arrival. Please check Visa to Jordan Policy

There are three types of Jordan Passes, and the price changes depending on how long you want to stay in the city of Petra:

  • Jordan Wanderer (1-day visit to Petra): 70 JOD (US$99)
  • Jordan Explorer (2-day visit to Petra): 75 JOD (US$106)
  • Jordan Expert (3-day visit to Petra): 80 JOD (US$113)

Children under twelve years old who are accompanied by their parents can enter for free in most popular tourist destinations in Jordan. So, only get the Jordan Pass for your children if they are over 12 years old.

Is it worth to buy Jordan pass?

When deciding to obtain Jordan Pass, ask yourself the following questions, then do the math:

Are you staying longer than three nights?

The visa fee is only waived if you will stay in Jordan for longer than three nights, otherwise, you have to pay the fee on departure either way.

Will you be visiting Petra?

The entrance fee for Petra is around JOD 50 (appx. US$70) for a one-day trip, JOD 55 (UD$78) for a two-day trip, and JOD 60 (US$85) for three days. Now add to that the price of the Visa on Arrival (US$56), you will notice that even if you visit only Petra and go nowhere else, you are still getting your money’s worth (and saving about twenty-eight dollars too).

How many tourist attractions do you plan to visit?

With the Jordan Pass, you can enter for free to more than 35 different locations (toggle + “Locations included in Jordan Pass“). If you don’t plan to go to any of them, not even Petra, it is not worth getting the Pass.
