After arrival at the Arava border crossing between Israel and Jordan, you will be met by a representative at Jordanian side.

Passport and visa check: Representative will ensure that your passport and visa (if required) are valid and in order.
Border crossing formalities: Representative will guide you through the border crossing procedures, including customs and immigration.
Transportation to Petra: Will show you your transportation to Petra, which is approximately a 2-hour drive.

Heading Towards Petra

Enjoy a route that offers panoramic views of the Jordanian mountains and canyons, including the towering sandstone cliffs of Wadi Rum.

After meeting your representative at the Arava border crossing and completing the necessary formalities, you will embark on a scenic 2.5-hour drive towards Petra. The journey takes you through the rugged and beautiful landscapes of Jordan.

The route from the Arava border to Petra follows the King’s Highway, an ancient trade route that has been used for centuries. The highway winds through mountains, valleys, and desert landscapes, offering stunning views along the way.

The walk starts

Towering red rock walls rise up on either side, sunlight filtering through in dramatic shafts.

You’ll leave the modern world behind and enter the Siq, a narrow gorge that winds its way for about a kilometer through the heart of the sandstone cliffs.

After emerging from the Siq, you'll be greeted by a sight that will take your breath away: the Treasury.

Continuing down the main path, you’ll encounter the Roman Theater, a vast semicircular structure built into the hillside. Imagine the crowds that once filled these seats, cheering on plays and performances.

Next, delve deeper into Petra’s history by exploring the Royal Tombs. These monumental facades, even grander than the Treasury in some cases, served as resting places for Nabataean royalty.

At the border, follow your guide’s instructions as you navigate the exit formalities on the Jordanian side. After completing the Jordanian side, you’ll proceed on foot to the Israeli side where you’ll go through entry procedures, which might include passport control, security checks.

Once you’ve successfully passed through both sides of the border, you’ll be in Eilat, Israel, marking the official end of your Petra excursion. From here, you can either pre-arrange transportation onward to your final destination or explore the charming Red Sea resort town of Eilat.
